You're Not Broken

Most Couples Who Come to Me Aren't in Crisis.
They're Just… Stuck.

You still love each other. You're not screaming matches every night. But something has shifted — slowly, quietly — and the gap between you keeps widening. You're sharing a home, a life, a calendar — but not yourselves. Not really.

You've probably tried to fix it. You've had the conversations. Maybe you've even Googled "marriage counseling Santa Monica" or "couples therapy Los Angeles" at 11pm wondering if that's what you need. That search alone tells me everything — it tells me you still care enough to try.

What most couples need isn't to be analyzed or diagnosed. They need someone to sit with them, help them hear each other clearly — probably for the first time in years — and give them real tools to close the gap. That's what relationship coaching does. And that's the difference between feeling stuck indefinitely and changing things in weeks, not years.

Feeling disconnected doesn't mean your marriage is failing. It means it's asking for attention. And it's asking now — not in another year.

Coaching vs. Therapy

Why Couples Looking for Marriage Counseling
Often Find Coaching Works Faster

Both have their place. But there's an important difference — and understanding it might save you a year of slow progress.

Traditional Couples Therapy

Focused on the past

Explores why you are who you are — root causes, childhood patterns, diagnoses
Can feel slow, heavy, or like you're re-opening wounds without closing them
Waitlists of weeks or months for licensed therapists in Los Angeles
Session-by-session with no clear end point or program structure
Effective for trauma, mental health conditions, and deep individual healing
vs
Relationship Coaching

Focused on what's next

Practical, forward-looking, action-oriented from the very first session
Real tools you leave with — things you can use that same night at home
Available now, not in three months — online or in-person in Santa Monica
Structured programs with clear phases, goals, and measurable progress
Built for couples who still care — and want to move forward, not just understand the past

I'm not a therapist — and relationship coaching isn't therapy. If you need a licensed therapist, I'll say so. But if what you want is momentum, clarity, and a real way forward — coaching is almost always the faster, more direct path.

What We Work On

The Four Things That Change Everything

Whether you're in Santa Monica, Los Angeles, or working with me online, every program focuses on what actually drives couples apart — and what brings them back together.

Communication That Actually Works

Not "I statements" from a worksheet. A real shift in how you talk to each other — so important conversations don't automatically become fights, and the things that matter most actually get said.

Healing Resentments & Old Hurts

The resentments you've been carrying — the ones you stopped bringing up because it never went anywhere — don't disappear on their own. They go underground and run everything. We surface them, name them, and clear them together.

Emotional & Physical Intimacy

Intimacy doesn't vanish overnight — it erodes through small disconnections over time. We rebuild the emotional bond first, and the physical closeness follows naturally. Not forced. Not performative. Real.

Feeling Like Teammates Again

Shared goals. Shared language. A relationship that feels like a partnership — not two people managing separate lives under the same roof. This is what most couples say they want and few know how to build.

What Clients Say

Real Couples. Real Results.

As a man, I appreciated that Stephen didn't take sides. He challenged me, but always in a way that helped me show up better as a partner and a leader in our marriage.

Common Questions

Relationship Coaching FAQ

Do we need to be in Santa Monica or Los Angeles to work with you?
Not at all. While I'm based in Santa Monica and work with many couples throughout Los Angeles, all sessions are available online — so you can work with me from anywhere in the country or internationally.
How is relationship coaching different from traditional couples therapy or marriage counseling?
Therapy often focuses on the past — root causes, patterns, diagnoses. Coaching is forward-looking and practical, focused on what you're building, not just what went wrong. Both have their place, but if what you want is momentum and real tools you can use immediately, coaching is usually the faster path. I'm not a therapist and coaching isn't therapy.
Do you take sides in sessions?
Never. My job is to support the relationship — not one partner against the other. Both of you will feel heard, respected, and guided toward something better. The relationship is always the client.
Can I come alone if my partner isn't ready?
Yes. Individual coaching can create powerful change even when only one partner is in the room. When you shift how you show up — how you listen, how you respond, what you stop doing — the entire dynamic shifts. It's not ideal, but it's far from nothing.
How long does it take to see results?
Most couples notice a real shift within the first two to three sessions. My programs are structured specifically to create early momentum — not just insight, but actual change in how you interact at home. The Jumpstart (one half-day intensive) often produces more progress than months of weekly sessions.
